That leads into the next part of the winter weather we are having. You will be fine this week with warmer temperatures here in Iowa. It was a cold, blustery, snowy week last week. Everyone is moving snow yet today from the snow on Sunday and all the blowing there was. The weather man is saying 45 degrees by Saturday which will be awesome, but hard to believe. Valentine's Day was good here. Larry did a project for me. He mounted the sleigh bells that my dad would have used on his horses with a sled. Very nice, and now get to look at them every day remembering my dad, Clarence Kerndt.
What about gardening? You can start thinking about starting seeds but don't do it too early as they will get too big, lanky and then will not do well outside. My hint for today is about starting them and make sure you have them at night in a cool spot, like 45 to 50 degrees. If they are too warm for 24 hours, then they will just grow tall and lanky, but if you give them a chance to cool down, then you will get the nice full stock especially with tomatoes. The coolness gives the plant time to grow that stem full and not just straight up. Give it a try if you can place them somewhere cool while they are growing.
