Temperature wasn't as low as the weather was predicted because it was cloudy all night long. 35 degrees at 5:00. But tonight there will be a clear sky so this is what LaCrosse Wisc. National Weather Service said NEAR FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TONIGHT. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT COLD SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
The picture I am showing you how to deadhead or clean up your pansies. These baskets stopped blooming because the plant wants to survive so it is putting all of its energy into growing seeds. So we need to fool the plant and take off the blooms that are done blooming, another name for this is spent blossoms. The rule of thumb for deadheading is cutting down to the first set of leaves. So with the pansy is it going down to the plant and taking off the bloom plus the stem. If you got some pansy you will need to do this to keep them blooming and looking awesome. The pansy loves the cool temperature so you should have lots of time yet to enjoy them, so take some time to dead head them. Sun is out now at 6:00 and very little clouds, so looks like a great day.
