April Fool’s Day. I was fooled when I looked outside and it looked nice. It is sunny, but we have an east wind, and it is cold out this morning. Spring day for us. It’s a chance of rain tonight and all day tomorrow. Friday some of the weather might be severe if the warm front brings in humidity and then cold front meets up with it. Stay warm and definitely stay safe. Australia family and friends for Thursday April 2 will have temperature at 75F(24C). Another summer like day for them. Enjoy, stay cool, stay safe. I planted for your gardens Helianthus Sunfinity Double Yellow. You would know it as a dwarf sunflower with lovely blooms. This variety grows 3 to 4 feet tall. Not as tall as regular sunflowers. They can be used in containers, so wonder how tall they will get in a pot? They will set out blooms that you can use as a cutflower. This is new for me to grow, so anxious to see how it will grow this summer in the gardens and containers. Have you grown these? Let us know what you think? Today I have more questions, then I do answers. Want to continue enjoying Sunfinity all summer long? Your Sunfinity as a Cut Flower Decorate your home with a beautiful Sunflower bouquet for your own garden. Step 1 Deciding Where to Plant Pick a bright and sunny location (Sunfinity needs at least 6+ hours of mid-day sun to thrive). Sunfinity needs room to grow to its full potential. Be sure to replant it after purchase into a garden bed or larger container and not leave it in the "grower pot". In the Garden Clear debris, remove weeds and turn over or fluff the soil. The addition of soil amendments, like compost, are beneficial for all plants, including Sunfinity. Make sure your soil is moist but not soggy. In Planters and Containers Select a large container at least 12" in diameter at the top. Containers for plants should always have a drainage hole on the bottom. Any potting mix for flowers will do. Avoid 'Garden Soil' in containers. Step 2 In the Ground Dig a hole twice as wide, but just as deep as the roots. Remove from the pot and place your Sunfinity into the hole and gently add the soil back into the hole. Gently tap the soil around the roots to stabilize your beautiful sunflower. Provide water to your Sunfinity immediately after planting. In Containers Fill your pot ¾ full with potting mix. Remove from the pot and gently place your Sunfinity into the center of the new container. Keep the plant stable while filling up the rest of the pot with potting mix. Gently press the soil around the roots, and continue to fill the container. Thoroughly (and slowly) water the pot until all of the potting mix is wet. Water should drain from the drain hole. Step 3 Enjoy! During the Season Water your Sunfinity often to avoid wilting leaves. Add enough water to wet the entire root area (both in pots and garden). Fertilizing your Sunfinity with a balanced plant food will yield even more sunflowers for your garden. Optional Care Instructions As your Sunfinity grows, pinching off old blooms will encourage more new flowers and keep plants tidy-looking.
