The weather is the main talk at the fair as it is awesome. Low humidity, lower temperature, mild breeze so all of that lead to a great day at the fair. I don't think it was this blog page but the lilies have been very popular at the fair. We have junket planters with succulents planted and they have been popular. New fairies for fairy gardens just arrived, canning jar solar lids, flower frogs using canning jars to name more we have. Pam Gessford from Journey's Past Flea Market and General Store has 2 tables of treasures and that has been popular with the fair crowd. The day goes quickly with the all that stops in to see us. Thanks for all of that.
A few questions about trees not doing well this summer. I am wondering if it is a water problem. We have been getting rain, and in great amount, but maybe it runs off and doesn't get deep into the soil. So I suggested that they water and let the water just get soaked into the ground. Of course the stories about deer and rabbits. They like our gardens don't they. Out to Grandpa's Farm which is where Larry works the wheat crop is awesome. They have lots of wheat. They got done yesterday with the bundling and now will spend lots of time threshing the wheat. Grandpa's Farm is an old fashion demonstration farming using the old ways and do the work. For them this weather is just awesome. Wheat dried so they could bundled and working isn't so hard on them when it is hot and humid. Pictures will be posted later showing all of this.
So this is a short post as I need to get things together that I need to take down to the fair, and be ready to start another day. For all of you that stopped to see me, thanks, and if you read this blog let me know because it tickles me so much. Till next time, this is Becky Litterer from Becky's Greenhouse Dougherty Iowa.
