Freewheeling Dichondra has just gone a bit more formal with this beautiful new addition to the Falls series of foliage plants. Instead of a loosely trailing habit, Emerald Falls is full and very trim, with deep green leaves and a dense, symmetrical habit that looks like you just clipped it back! If you're looking for a "go-anywhere" sun-loving foliage plant, Emerald Falls is the variety you MUST try! Vigorous and easy to grow, this Dichondra boasts thick, super-soft deep green leaves (about an inch wide) arising profusely on very well-branched plants that need no pinching. Emerald Beauty will cascade about 3 feet from your baskets, windowboxes, or other containers, but it will also form a nicely domed shape that fills the available space beautifully! Very heat- and drought-tolerant, Emerald Falls recovers quickly even if wilted, and looks fresh all season long.Emerald Falls thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Another plant to put on your gardening list. Till next time, this is Becky Litterer from Becky's Greenhouse, Dougherty Iowa
Did I learn something from one of the 4-her's this year!!!! 4 weeks ago, I had the West Fork Winners 4-H club come and plant the pots for the fair. I had what they could plant. One of the plants was Emerald Falls which is a trailing plant. So what I have done with this one over the years is plant at the edge. But one of the 4-hers planted them in the middle of the pot. I thought that will not be good, but left them to plant how they wanted to. It turned out to be the biggest surprise as you can see by the picture. It grew from the middle and then will go trailing. I knew it loved hot weather so growing well. But filled in the whole pot area as a very green plant and like I said is starting to trail. So next year, I will plant some baskets with it in and put it in the middle. Containers will never have it at the edge but in the middle....never too old to learn something new. Because I have...thanks that little 4-Her. The power of innocent and just plant the plants and see what happens. Here is what I found out about emerald falls....
