The most important way of learning was doing it. Just do it and see what works for you. That is advice #1... every year is a different growing year so you go with the year and what has worked in the past and try new things.

#2 Advice Everyone is so ready to get started with the gardening. But there is a time for growing, time for the planting. We need patience that is for sure.
#3 Advice
“ When can I put out tomatoes and peppers?” I really want you to wait till after May 15th. In the 30 years of us selling plants, we have had more than 1/2 of the growing season have a killing frost on the 15th. That is our average killing frost date for this area. Peppers especially don’t like cold nights, so they will really grow the best when that happens.
Just some information about us here at Becky's Greenhouse
I realized something this season when I have had gardeners come and they look in the greenhouse. One comment “ Did you buy all of these plants in?”
I said, “ No, we grew all of these.”
Our greenhouse business is changing. When we started 26 years ago most of the greenhouses, and garden centers grew their own plants. Now most of the garden centers setting up around, buy in all the plants. We have to let you know that most of the annuals, most of the vegetables, all the geraniums, and most of the baskets are grown here at Becky’s Greenhouse.
Yes we buy in the perennials, of course the trees, shrubs, roses.
“When do you start growing?” We have been at it since March. We started later so we didn’t have to heat up the greenhouse so much in the cold of the winter. With it being warmer and more sunlight the plants do grow. They look awesome. Now they are outside and getting harden off. They will go into your gardens and continue to grow. No greenhouse wilt, as I call it from coming out of a control environment.
New advise will be posted as I go with this new idea...If any questions let me know by this website or call me at 641-794-3337 love to help gardeners. Till next time, Becky Litterer and the small crew
